Regular season

The Bulls’ rebuild entered its second year with the additions of Wendell Carter Jr. and Chandler Hutchison through the Draft, and veteran Otto Porter Jr. through a trade ... Chicago’s young talent continued to develop through a season that included the challenges of injury issues and a head coaching change ... the Bulls started the season 5-19 under Fred Hoiberg before turning the reins over to Jim Boylen, who finished the season 17-41 ... Chicago lost 290 games to injury, most notably with all 82 games lost for Denzel Valentine after he underwent left ankle surgery. Wendell Carter Jr. (38 games), Kris Dunn (34 games), Chandler Hutchison (36 games), Zach LaVine (29 games), Bobby Portis (31 games) and Lauri Markkanen (30 games) also missed significant time ... after the team traded for Porter Jr., starting with a win in his first game in a Bulls uniform at Brooklyn on Feb. 8, Chicago won seven of 12 games before injury issues cropped up again ... the Bulls averaged 117.7 points per game over that stretch ... LaVine played in 63 games, which was his most since his 82-game season in 2015-16, and he posted a career-high 23.7 points per game ... Markkanen again participated in the Mtn Dew Kickstart Rising Stars game at All-Star Weekend in Charlotte.
